05/19/2005 Archived Article: "The II Half Maratón "Villa de Gaucín" set for Sunday, May 22"

It begins at 11:a.m. at the Pabellón de Deportes Municipal in the Portichuelo, & consists of a circuit to be run 2 times. It is a half marathon due to the altitude – a full marathon would be too taxing for the runners.The ½ Maratón is certified by the Federación Española de Atletismo. All necessary services will be provided: changing rooms, wardrobes, medical attention, physiotherapists, masseurs & an ambulance. There will also be at 5 places along the circuit 5 stations with solid & liquid food, & wet sponges.

Following are the categories, masculine & feminine, as established by the R.F.E.A.: juniors - 18 & 19 years, promesas - 20, 21 & 22 years; seniors - 23 años & up to 40 (m) & 35 (f) years; veterans from 40 to 50 years & more.The 3 winners of each category withh receive trophees & sweatshirts, men & women, & everyone who finishes the race will get a t-shirt & runner´s bag.Money prizes are as follows: men: 1º - 500 euros, 2º - 400 euros, 3º - 300 euros, 4º - 200 euros; women: 1ª - 400 euros; 2ª - 300 euros;
