10/14/2006 Archived Article: "To vote in May´s local elections check with Ayuntamiento BEFORE OCTOBER 30"

May, 2007, is the date for the upcoming local elections. To vote one does not need to be a resident; one simply needs to be “empadronada” – or registered at the Town Hall. This is a very simple process in the town hall, requiring an ID, such as a passport, and either rental contract, a bill with your name, or your escritura (deed), or a letter from your landlord/family. Registering with the Town Hall has no tax implications. However, the “censo electoral” must be filled out at the Town Hall before October 30. This is crucial. This paper which one must ask for specifically, allows you to vote in municipal and EU elections. The whole process takes 5 minutes. Please pass on this information
