01/11/2007 Archived Article: "Strike to protest bad conditions of Ronda road set for Saturday, 13 January"
At 12 o´clock protesters with placard will block off the Ronda road from the Gasolinera to the Bird park for 1 hour. The organizing group has issued the following manifesto:
How many more accidents are necessary to understand that our village has a piece of road (The A369) of about 400 metres in length, which is a death trap, it goes from the petrol station to the bridge.
There have been numerous accidents over the years, the last one, a few days ago resulted in a death.
We don’t want the authorities to ignore the problem any longer, and our lack of action to continue.
We have to find a solution, now! Only the people who use the road everyday know about the problem.
So we are intending to block this bit of road this Saturday the 13th at 12 O’clock (mid-day) for one hour. The two points will be the gasolinera, and the parque de los pajaritos, either side of the “black spot.” Your assistance is urgently needed if we are to obtain a result, so please show your support by signing the form (which are in various shops around the village)
