02/23/2007 Archived Article: "CARNAVAL GAUCIN 2007 begins tonight"
Carnaval is being held this year the 23, 24 & 25 February. All the events will be held in the Convent because the plaza, the normal venue, is torn up with construction (the pavement is being replaced.)
Friday, 23 February: 20.00h: The Municipal Band, “Villa de Gaucín," parades thru the streets
22:30 h: Opening of Carnaval
23:30: Proclamation of the carnival queen, Ester Montero; fiesta with the orchestra - show "Bugui-Bugui."
Saturday 24:
22.30 h: Big Carnival fiesta
00.30: Contest for best costumes; prizes for individuals & groups. 1st prize – 200 euros; 2nd prize: 100 euros
Sunday 25:
13.00 h: Children´s Carnival: party with performances, prizes and food
16:00 h: Performance of the chirigotas “Los Pacofashion” y “Porque yo no valgo”
