07/24/2007 Archived Article: "Don´t miss the XI Festival Flamenco "del Corcho Valle del Genal" Gaucin this weekend"
 It begins Friday, 27 July, in the Convento, with a Conference on “El Flamenco en Ronda y su Serranía.” Presenter: Paco Vargas. A Panda de Verdiales will perform. Singer: Pepe de Campillo, and on the guitar, Gabriel Cabrera.
The next day, Saturday 28 July, a book on flamenco by native son Francis Prieto will be presented in the Convent, at 12:30 p.m., “El Fandango y la Serranía de Gaucín. From a very young age Fran has been interested in flamenco. He plays guitar and writes lyrics. The first part of his book is about the songs and the people who sing them in this area, and the second part has lyrics.
Saturday night there will be a flamenco performance in the Pabellón Municipal starting at 10:30 p.m. (good luck!) Singers: Aurora Vargas, Curro Lucena and Rocio Bazán. Dancing: a cuadro flamenco with Alonso Pavón. On guitar: Diego Amaya, Javier Jimeno and Rael Montilla “Chaparro.” Presented by Paco Vargas. The Excmo. Ayuntamiento de Gaucín organizes the Festival, declared of touristic interest. The Excma. Diputación de Málaga collaborates.
