08/20/2007 Archived Article: "The II Gala Dinner of the Hermandad del Santo Niño was held last Saturday night, the most important social event of the year"
The dinner was held under the shadow of the sad news of the death a few weeks ago of the Secretary of the Hermandad, D. Juan Luis Moyano Barroso. All present felt very heavily the loss of this wonderful man and member of the community.
The Convent, decorated with palms and bouganvilla, was the setting for the evening, attended by over 300 celebrants. This year special homage was paid to two former members of the Junta, Dña. Angelita Toledano and Dña. Anita Hidalgo. They received plaques and huge bouquets of flowers for their past services to the group.
There were so many in attendance that some of the tables were placed outside on the convent terrace. The dinner consisted of 4 courses, and there was live music for dancing afterwards. Many of those in attendance were “gaucineños en diaspora,” from Marbella, Málaga, Algeciras, Madrid, and other cities throughout Spain, which made the dinner and ideal ocasión for happy reunions.
