10/22/2007 Archived Article: "Three walks scheduled for this week, October 23, 24 & October 25"

Tuesday, 23 Oct 2007, a long walk will start at 10.00 opposite the Petrol Station in Gaucín for a walk up the Jarastepe mountain, on the right hand side of the pass to Ronda, dominating Alpandeire. Tuesday, there will be another long walk from another approach, starting clockwise from the west side. Barron, superb views north and south from the top at some 1400 m. The Tuesday walk will begin at 9:a.m.

Both walk include a half an hour drive back and forth; the walks will take 5 to 6 hours. Return to Gaucin is planned to be around 6pm at the latest (this includes time for some yellowish liquid on the way back home).

This Thursday, 25 October, the short walk will go the circular route that starts opposite the turning to Benarraba on the Ronda road. There is a short steep downhill section and a long slow climb to finish. The walk takes approx. 2.5hr. Meet at the gasolinera at 10:00.
