03/02/2008 Archived Article: "Día de Andalucía was celebrated in the Plaza del Santo Niño last Friday"
The day was sunny and warm and many gaucineños were in the Plaza to celebrate. The wonderful Banda Municipal de Música splayed, the flan of Andalucía was raised, and the Mayor spoke to the assembled. He thanked all the historical persons who had contributed to making Andalucía a Comunidad Autónoma, citing especially those gaucineños who had defended its ideals in and outside of Gaucín, of whatever ideology, and promised that in the future a monument would be erected to in the town to these heroes. He also commented on the situation of the Ayuntamiento. He said that the continuous attacks upon the municipal government, such as malicious rumours or the insulting graffiti in the streets required an answer. He explained the debt which Gaucin owes, the exact figures are posted at the Town Hall for all to see. He also started that this administration will act with justice towards all and will do all its duties in strict accordance with the law.He asked the understanding of all present, and the support to make Gaucin better every day.
