03/02/2008 Archived Article: "Reenactment of the conquest of the Town Hall of Gaucin & its subsequent capture by the bandoleros of the serranía"
The “Acto Cultural” took place last Friday and Saturday. (29 February – 1 March 2008.) Those who took the roles of the French troops CAME from La Albuera (Badajoz), & the bandoleros were from Gaucín and the Serranía de Ronda. The night of 29 February the French troops paraded down the calle Convento to the door of the Ayuntamiento, which they captured, with much noise from the canon, rifles and pistols. Once they took the Ayuntamiento, the French soldiers proceded to occupy it, capture the mayor, and post guards. The next day, there were lots of horses with ridfers decked out in period costume, some from the Serranía and Ronda. In the foto, the bandoleros Juan Ario, Gaspar Rondón & Cristóbal Montero.
