07/28/2008 Archived Article: "The Bishop of Málaga inaugurated the church last Saturday"

The bishop, D. Antonio Dorado Soto, celebrated mass with the parish priest, D. Pepe Morales Malquiso, and preached beautifully. The church was filled with the congregation who had come to see the restoration work.

Alter the mass, the architect for the renovation, D. Pablo Pastor, spoke, and explained what had been done. The church was built in 1505, was repaired and enlarged in the 18th c., and with the modern repairs should last for another 100 years. All of the Word in the artesonado (ceiling) is new, though fashioned by techniques current in the 16th c.

Alter the mass there was a social gathering in the church hall with the bishop.
