09/12/2008 Archived Article: "A motion to censure the mayor passed the Gaucín Town Hall yesterday. By Jesús Balsa Pascual"

At 12:00 noon on September 11, a meeting was held in the Town Hall with only one motion before it: to vote on the motion of censure against the Mayor, D. Teodoro de Molina, presented by Paco Ruiz (PP) and the four aldermen of the PA. The room was packed with gaucineños and some journalists from the Province, due to the interest the motion had provoked. The candidate Paco Ruiz was the first to speak, with some brief remarks in which he accused Teodoro Molina of not having kept the PSOE-PP pact. Then D. Teodoro Molina spoke, defending his work as Mayor and that of his Party this year. He explained the lamentable economic situation that he had inherited in the Town Hall, and regretted that Paco Ruiz would now join with the PA when he had pacted formerly with the PSOE precisely to avoid a government by those who were now about to accede to power in Gaucín.
The third to speak was Francisco Corbacho as spokesman for the PA. He accused Teodoro Molina of falsifying the accounts of the Town Hall, and said that the debt that exists is less than Teodoro claims.
The last to speak was the spokesperson for the PSOE, Felisa Carrasco, who only said, “I am sorry for the people of this pueblo”.
During the meeting Teodoro was enthusiastically applauded, while the speeches of Paco Ruiz and Francisco Corbacho were booed.
When the speeches were finished, the voting took place, and the motion was approved with 5 votes in favor (Paco Ruiz and the four councilmen of the PA) and three against, cast by the three councilmen of the PSOE. The second PP councilman, Manuel Jesús Moreno, had presented his resignation several days ago, for reasons unknown.
When the voting was finished, Paco Ruiz was sworn in as the new Mayor. He spoke, promising to be the Mayor for everyone.
It is to be noted that the four councilmen of the PA have been charged for supposed offences relating to the “ordenación del territorio,” and Court Nº 3 of Málaga is asking 18 months and 7 years of disqualification from public service for them. Besides this, the Nº 1 of the PA, the former mayor Francisco Corbacho, was judged in November for supposed offences embezzlement and perjury. It was precisely the Partido Popular (PP) who pressed the charges in this case.
We only desire the best for the citizens of Gaucín.
