02/23/2009 Archived Article: "829 litres of rain fell in Gaucin up to January 31."
Report by Alma van Doorn: This is much higher than average for the same period during all the years that I have been keeping records. And it rained a further 242 (!!) litres in 7 days from 31st Jan to 6thFeb. This huge amount of rain represents about a quarter of an average year's rainfall in a week! This included 74 (!!!) litres in one day on 1 February. This exceptional rainfall has caused local flooding, damage to properties and several local caminos, landslips and partial blockage of the Gaucin/Manilva and Gaucin/Ronda roads. The good news is that the campo is thriving again and water levels in local reservoirs have been boosted after several very dry years.
