03/04/2009 Archived Article: "Many activities are planned for this weekend (March 7-8) in Gaucín"

Saturday, 7 March
10 a.m. -- 14 p.m.: Monthly market in the Plaza del Santo Niño, with products from the vegetable gardens of Gaucín, homemade sweets and pastries, handicrafts, books and DVDs, etc. The streets where the market is set up will be closed to traffic from 9:00 to 4 p.m., for instalation, clearing, etc. To reserve a space, call Nicolás (mercado@turismogaucin.com 667879667).
The market will be held the first Saturday of every month through October.

7:30 p.m.: Celebratión of the Feast of Saint John of God. Procession down from the castle to the church with his relics and statue. Mass.
8:30 p.m.: Inauguratión of the Sodality House, situated in the calle Lorenzo García, above the Post Office. Drinks will be served.
11 p.m.: Verbena popular in the Convento with the musical group “Latidos”.

Sunday, 8 March
1 p.m.: Solemn Mass in honor of San Juan de Dios, officiated by our pastor, D. Javier García Pascual. At the end of Mass, plaques in honor of services rendered will be awarded to members of the Junta Directiva of the Sodality from the years 1985-1988, as well as the Sodality of the Ilustre Colegio de Enfermería de Málaga, whose patrón is San Juan de Dios. In representation of this group, the speaker will be D. Juan Antonio Astorga Sánchez (President of the colegio) o D. Juan Ignacio Vázquez Díaz (Honorary President of the colegio)
