07/27/2009 Archived Article: "Bar/Restaurante El Puente wins tapas competition"

From 26 June to 5 July, the second Tapas Competition took place, organised by the Gaucin Tourist Association. 11 bars and restaurants took part, all of them members of the Association.
Initially 600 forms were handed out among everybody in all the bars. Of those, 200 were returned at the end, indicating that 400 people approximately had participated in the competition. Of all these participants only 75 people put in their vote, for which it was necessary to have tried three different tapas at least. The majority filled in their details by which we are able to work out some statistics for the competition. The sealed boxes were collected personally by the President and Vice President of the Association, Jesús Balsa and Jorrian Van Der Schaaf, who presided over their opening and the counting of the votes.

Final result: El Puente: 15 votos, Casa Antonia: 12 votos, Paco Pepe: 12 votos, El Chaparro: 11 votos, Caballo Andaluz. 5 votos, El Pilar. 4 votos, El Patio: 7 votos, La Casita: 9 votos.
On Saturday 26 July, in the presence of the participants of the excursion to the Cork Cutting display, the raffle was drawn from the forms of all the people who had voted, the prize being a night in a hotel in Gaucin, with dinner, for two people. The winner was Elena Martínez Merlo. Congratulations!
