11/05/2009 Archived Article: "A new entrance door to the church has been installed this week"
The old door had deteriorated because of water and hunidity; it didn't shut correctly and let rain and wind into the church, and it had been invaded by termites. Because of the problems, the Comisión de Arte y Patrimonio del of the diocese of Málaga was contacted, and they agreed that the door had to be replaced, given that it had no artistic value in itself.
The new door, built by carpinters of Gaucin, is made of iroko wood, more resistant than other woods. They reused the old metal studs as well as the handle. The door cost more than 6.000 €, and was paid for in equal amounts by the Hermandad del Santo Niño and the Camareras del Santo Niño, and by a parishioner who prefers to remain anonymous. The parish thanks all those who collaborated.
