Grilled Sirloin of veal or Iberian pork with a wine and honey sauce
Grilled Marrajo with a pineapple sauce

The cultural week of Andalucía is 27 February to 4 March. Schedule and contest information below
There will be competitions in photography, painting and poetry. Prizes will be awarded on the Day of Andalucía, 28 February, in the Convento. The schedule of that day follows:
- 10 a.m.: Andalucían breakfast
- 11 a.m.: Flag raising
- 11.30 a.m.: Prizes awarded to winners of competitions
- Noon: Concert by the Banda Municipal
- 2.30 p.m.: Sporting events followed by a paella lunch
Rules for the competitions are as follows:
Photography : Theme: labors of the campo (tilling, sowing, harvesting, étc.)
Dates: Entries must be received by Friday, 24 February, at the Town Hall of Gaucín
- Exhibition of the entries and selection of the winner will be Monday, 27 February in the Convent of the Carmelites.
- Prizes will be awarded on the 28 February after the raising of the Andalucían flag in the Carrera.
- Works will be exhibited until 4 March
- From 4 March the Works will return to the Town Hall.
Prize: 150 € cash.
Bases: Dimensions of the Works will be 25 x 30 cm
- Participants will pay for enlargements and printing.
- Works should not be signed.
- The Town Hall reserves the right to the winner´s work, with all rights to publication and diffusion.
- Works should be submitted with personal data and contact information.
- In Gaucín “Electromendoza” offers to do the enlarging and printing.
Traditional hog slaughtering (Matanza) event set for Saturday, March 3, beginning at 10 a.m.
This event, which is part of the cultural week of Andalucía, will take place in the la Carrera. There will be stands with local hand-made objects, and an exhibition of tools used in the Matanza. Sausages and products connected to the matanza will also be made at the event, for the spectators.
The day will begin with a typical breakfast of pajaretas and landres (2 items from the hog) and coffee from a pucherete. Lunch will be grilled meat and innards. (Your translator apologizes that this event does not translate well. It sounds awful but is actually delicious.)
Tickets to this event are 8 euro. There will be a free gift, and children under 12 years old are admitted free of charge.
ESCUELA MUNICIPAL FUTBOL GAUCIN keeps on competing
On Saturday, January 14, the fourth game of the Provincial League was played between Gaucín and Teba with the following results: Categoría benjamín: Gaucin:2 Teba:7; Categoría infantil: Gaucin:3 Teba: 7.
The games were played in Arriate. Juan José Montero from the infantil team suffered a sprained ancle and was 5 days in bed. Mass at noon on Three Kings Day
Next Friday, January 6, Epiphany --- more popularly known as Three Kings, Mass will be celebrates at Noon in the parish church. Next Sunday, Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, Mass will also be at noon. Everyone is welcome!
