GAUCÍN: Balcony of the Ronda Mountains where the Holy Child appeared to St. John of God.
The illustrious, always noble, very hospitable village of Gaucín.

Firstly, and most importantly, I hope that you are all well? I know that these are very difficult and uncertain times and we all have many questions, which I hope over the coming days I can answer. It is true that there are still too many people out in the pueblo, but this will change over the coming days as restrictions are enforced. The mayor is working with the local police on this today and we are limiting the trade of the ferreteria, they will only be able to sell animal food and hygiene products. This is a new situation for all of us; as residents, the town hall, the local police and the Guardia, but we are working together to protect and support our community. We are working with local shops regarding food deliveries, redistributing town hall workers to support the elderly and setting up a group of volunteers to help with deliveries and dog walking.

Please see the following info regarding all of these:
1. If you are elderly and need help please call the Ayuntamiento on 952 151000
2. If you have a prescription and it needs to be renewed, this can now be done by telephone,. Please do not call the medical centre but call Salud Responde on 955 545 060. When they ask which service you require say "receta" and have your medications handy so that you can name the ones needed. They will then update your records and you can at the end of the day go to the Farmacia to collect your medication. If you are sick or in isolation please contact me and I can arrange someone to collect the medication on your behalf.
3. The Post Office has announced today that they will remain open but will de limiting opening hours, thus closing at 1230.
4. Food deliveries - all shops in the village will be offering deliveries. Orders can be placed by phone and payment made by credit card or cash upon delivery. I am collating all the phone numbers but in the meantime here are some that have already confirmed the service:
Tienda Verde - 654 948330
Fran y Auxi (Andrades) - 686 428462
Alsara (the new shop in the plazoleta next to Esquinita) 600 32 05 92 or 617 986084
5. Lavendería - this will be closed to all business unless urgent. If you have do not have a machine or can not do your own washing then you can request that she opens by calling 6670590055
6. Finally, we are setting up a group of volunteers under the name of "Gaucin Solidario". The work that we can do will be limited to non medical care and it is important to note that we will not be entering in to peoples houses. The aim is to offer support to those that can not get out for essential supplies or perhaps to deliver cooked food. I am sure that this will evolve over the coming week but I want to start by collecting the names and numbers of those that are in the low risk category and who can offer help.

Please if you are interested email me directly and I will start both a what's app group and a facebook page. This will be in English and Spanish.

Many thanks and lets stay together on this, stay well and stay positive!

Best wishes,
Anne
