CASA CONVENTO - LOWER FLOOR
A stained glass door in the zaguán on the Street Level opens onto a staircase that takes you down to the Morroccan Level.
The townsfolk still refer to the house as "la fábrica" (the factory) and this level of the house has been used as a "lagar" (winepress) --- (in the 18th and 19th centuries Gaucin was a major grape growing region, until the vineyards were devastated by phylloxera in the late 19th century), a bakery, and most recently, a sawmill.
The stone walls and the 4m beamed ceilings are original. We installed the floor of large antique clay tiles, with underfloor heat throughout. This level is amazingly cool in the summer and never needs airconditioning. Music is piped throughout the rooms.

TV Room:projection TV, music system, bookshelves. 2 sofas the size of standard single beds. Behind the TV room is a full bathroom with a shower stall and a clothes closet.
Kitchen:2 ovens, 1 gas and 1 electric, an antique double marble sink, original beams, a ceiling height of 4 m, pantry.
Living Room:three large French doors with stained glass cast lovely shadows in the room
Conservatory:large pyramid sky light and a glass brick wall, view of Gibraltar. Antique brick floor; serves as a third dining room.
Laundry room: *Washer, dryer, two utility sinks, ice machine, extra fridge, hot water & central heating equipment. Shelving, counter top work space, storage. Door to the 3-car garage.
Terrace Pergola:The terrace has a blue pergola with a tiled wall and bench, and a beamed roof.
Terrace:The terrace off the living and dining rooms and the conservatory runs the width of the house. There is a walled-off area for drying clothes.
Stairs lead down from the terrace to the Swimming Pool terrace.
